I'm leaving to Rome... on foot

Dear friends and family,
Chers amis et chère famille,

A few words, perhaps, to tell you more about myself and the purpose of my decision to make a walk to Rome...
"L'existence précède l'essence", disait Jean-Paul Sartre. This is probably why I have looked at traveling as the best way to feed my keen interest in anything I don't know.

After having been a head hunter for the last seven years, I feel I need to take a breath of fresh air to put my life into perspective. Moreover, engaging in a long walk has long been a dream. Together with a strong interest for late antique and early medieval history, a pilgrimage to Rome seems to be the perfect combination to live through my passion and at the same time link it to a life experience.
This is also a spiritual journey, as such a long effort is a good way to be face-to-face with one's creator.

I will leave discreetly on the 4th of August from Amay, in Wallonia, and walk straight to the Eternal City. To say the least, I will walk with all of you in my thoughts, and especially my wife Myriam (say Mimi) to whom I owe more than a special thanks. I owe her my eternal gratitude for her generosity and her open mindedness... to let me go and come back.

Please, do not hesitate to put comments and posts on this blog. I will try and do my best to respond to them on a regular basis. All suggestions, invitations along the road, encouragements are of course very welcome! They will feed along the way... Reciprocally, I look forward to share my experience with you.
